Sensitive Conversations: STIs and Maternal Health



This 60-minute module explores how FSPs can navigate conversations about STIs with compassion, clarity, and confidence, ensuring that every family receives the education, support, and referrals they deserve.


Learning Objectives:
After completing this training, you will:
  • Understand what happens during prenatal care visits and why visits matter for maternal and infant health
  • Understand key pregnancy-related risk factors and how these risk factors impact maternal and infant health 
  • Understand community resources that provide health services and support to pregnant individuals and families
  • Understand the elements of an effective referral and support parents in coordinating the variety of services they may need in the presence of one or more risk factors, and
  • Understand and identify barriers to services, gaps in available services, and support parents by working collaboratively to diminish barriers
