Mothers and Babies is an evidence-based program that has been highlighted as one of the most effective interventions for the prevention of postpartum depression and has a proven record of success. It is guided by cognitive behavioral therapy and attachment theory, and is designed to be provided by home visitors as an enhancement to the home visiting services already provided in the home. Additionally, there is an option to provide this enhancement as a group intervention rather than 1 on 1 in the home. Mothers & Babies is a great resource for parents experiencing mild to moderate depression. M & B equips staff with a curriculum and tools to support mothers experiencing depression AND it counts as a completed referral for MIECHV programs. Supervisors who attend this event will be trained in Mothers & Babies and in how to train their staff in the intervention. Additionally, all programs who attend will receive on-going TA support on implementation.
