Roanoke: Building Parent Strengths (Trauma Informed Reflective Practice)

APR 29, 2019
9:00 am EDT

This training uses the most current information in Neuroscience, Epigenetics, ACE, and Resiliency (NEAR) to teach home visitors how to use reflective practices and trauma informed approaches with parents in ways that will enhance goal setting and build parental resiliency. Home visitors and their supervisors will learn to recognize how their own life experiences influence their work with families and the impact that this work has on them physically and emotionally while also teaching effective strategies for professional self-care. Prior to attending, you are asked to read the learning guide, included in attached documents. Please note that you do not need to print the power point slides or the NEAR at Home Toolkit. These are handouts for your review and are optional for bringing to training. Please print the other handouts before training. The training will take place in the conference room at CHIP of Roanoke Valley, located at 1201 Third Street SW Roanoke, VA 24016. A receptionist will direct you. Street parking lot is available within a block of the building. Please be aware of any "2 Hour Parking Only" signs! The training takes place from 9 am - 4 pm. Early Impact Virginia has a strict no-show policy in order to continue providing free trainings for home visiting programs in the Commonwealth. If for any reasons you cannot attend this training ahead of the specified date, please cancel your registration or email Vashti Shiwmangal (vashti@earlyimpactva.org) prior to the start time. Thank you!
