Growing Great Kids (GGK) Prenatal-36 Months Training: November 11-14, 2019

Families Forward Virginia in partnership with Healthy Families Central Virginia presents Growing Great Kids (GGK) Prenatal-36 Months Training Seminar. This transformative, skill-driven curriculum provides practitioners with research-informed, strength-based and solution-focused “Home Visit Conversation Guides” for engaging parents, cultivating secure attachments, and bolstering child development while building parenting, family strengthening and other essential life skills with parents who themselves have experienced childhood adversity and other traumatic events. GGK builds Home Visitor competencies for: promoting parent engagement, providing culturally competent services to all families, building relationship-based partnerships with families, cultivating the growth of secure attachment relationships, supporting family interactions that optimize growth and development, nurturing resilient families that balance risk and protective factors, encouraging integrated family wellness, and sustaining professional effective practices. To be awarded certification, each participant must attend all hours of each training day and fulfill all certification requirements. At least one supervisor from your agency has to have taken GGK P-36 previously in order for staff to attend. If there are no supervisors from your agency that have completed GGK P-36, you will need to send at least one to be certified along with staff. Training will take place on November 11-14, 2019 from 8:00am - 5:00pm at the Healthy Families Central Virginia office located at 150 Linden Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503. Because the seminar is skill driven, training size is limited to 12 participants. There is no cost to attend and training is offered on a first-come first-served basis. Snacks and drinks are complimentary while lunch is not provided. All hotel costs, travel arrangements, and meals are the responsibility of the local agency attending.
