Healthy Families of Virginia in partnership with Families Forward Virginia present Integrated Strategies for Home Visiting (ISHV). Developed by Great Kids, Inc., this course is considered basic training for all Healthy Families Home Visitors, Program Managers, and Supervisors to ground them in the Healthy Families program model. Strategies on how to apply services to program participants are practiced in response to scenarios. Value clarification, goal planning, and problem solving skills are explored in order to build strong family functioning. Attachment, cues, brain development, and empathy are also studied to help home visitors promote positive parent child relationship as well as healthy childhood growth and development. In addition, sample documentation is reviewed as common boundary issues.
Supervisors are required to attend and register for an extra day of training on March 15, 2019 in addition to March 11-14, 2019. Training will take place from 8:30am - 5:00pm at the Families Forward Virginia office located at 8100 Three Chopt Rd., Suite 212, Richmond, VA 23229. The trainer facilitating the course is Laura Shoaf. Cost for this extra training day is $50 for supervisors. A training manual is included in the registration cost and is required to purchase. Snacks and drinks are complimentary while lunch is not provided. All hotel costs, travel arrangements, and meals are the responsibility of the local site. The registration and cancellation deadline is February 25, 2019. Invoices are available upon request. Unless there is an emergency, full refunds will only be issued with a cancellation of 14 days in advance of the training date.
